Here are some thoughts on recent Tigers commitment Mike Boivin from Nanaimo (B.C.) Daily News sports editor Michael Rhode. Rhode covers the BCHL team that Boivin was traded to during the 2007-08 season. My thanks to Rhode for lending his insight. Hope you enjoy it.
“I think when Michael joined the Clippers midway through the 2007-08 season, he was a little intimidated. He was by no means a liability on the ice but he was young (17) and not that big size-wise. It was a big jump up a level from junior B. Things changed last season. At the start of the 08-09 campaign, Boivin looked more confident in his defensive play, and his offensive game blossomed. He was a key component on the Clippers power play, especially in the second half of the year. If he can make the same strides at the college level, then Colorado College has themselves a solid player.”
