Morin undergoes surgery, Eveland, McDermott still out

Colorado College left wing Michael Morin had surgery Wednesday on his right ankle, an indication that his season likely is over, while two other injured Tigers, right wing Dakota Eveland (above) and defenseman Eamonn McDermott, remain far from returning, and they won’t play this weekend in a home-and-home series against No. 13 Denver for the Gold Pan.

A sophomore reserve, Morin required an operation after hurting his ankle Jan. 20 in a 2-1 victory at No. 2 Minnesota, and he’ll perhaps play again only if No. 11 CC (14-9-1, 11-7 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) advances to the Frozen Four, which isn’t until April. “Surgery went well,” Morin posted on Twitter. “Now just feel a bit woozy.”

Eveland is out indefinitely with an upper-body injury that kept the third-line sophomore from the Minnesota series, meaning there’s no timetable for his comeback. McDermott is expected to miss two or three more weeks with a left knee injury the sophomore suffered last month, his earliest return a Feb. 17-18 home series against Nebraska-Omaha.
