BEMIDJI, Minn. – Defenseman Mike Boivin (above) and right wing Scott Winkler both won’t play Saturday for Colorado College at Bemidji State, sidelined with upper-body injuries. Boivin suffered a concussion Friday in a 4-2 loss after he was hammered into the boards, and Winkler has missed three of the past four games. That grows the injury list to seven for the No. 10 Tigers, with no healthy scratches on the trip. Ian Young replaces Boivin, in a defensive pairing with Peter Stoykewych, and Charlie Taft stays in Winkler’s fourth-line position.

A lot of injuries, but we have to find a way to win tonight.
Go Tigers!
Lose here and NCAA Tournament bid is almost out of reach.
Dineen’s “upper body” injury is a concussion caused by a forearm to the head by DU’s Zucker (#17). I saw the whole thinkg, live. Zucker actually left his feet to make that hit.
Boivin was intentionally head-shot into the boards.
Tell me please why the perpetrators of these head shots are not suspended from practice and play until their victims are able to play again?
Joe, I have no doubt that Dineen has a concussion, CC just won’t confirm it. Thorimbert might have a concussion, too, don’t know for sure. The problem is that the WCHA can’t suspend a player every time another player gets hurt on a hit, even if it looks violent. If that happened, no teams probably would have enough players to play. And let’s say it’s the season opener, and a guy who gets hit breaks his leg and is out for the season. Is the guy who hit him supposed to serve a 40-game suspension just because the guy he hit happened to break his leg? That doesn’t seem very fair. The Bemidji State guy who drilled Boivin last night wasn’t even penalized, so if it didn’t even draw a penalty, I don’t think you can justify a suspension. Then again, Rau gets suspended for hitting Zucker into the boards last night, and I’m not sure it was that violent of a hit, just a bad end result for Zucker. I’m not trying to defend the WCHA, I just think it’s really difficult for them to decide what is worthy of a suspension and what is not.
Hopefully The National Conference gets the best college refs.
Zuckers hit on Dineen was cheap and they were hitting on purpose in that 1st period, they charged Thorimbert as well.
Didn’t see hit on Boivin. Hate cheap hits, but guys have to be ready near the boards.
Put Lockwood in, I think Joe Howe is the worst goalie in the WCHA. For the number of quality chances he see’s, he doesn’t stop but maybe 50% of them. So disappointing. God we need Thorimbert, Dineen and McDermott back.
Are we this bad? Or does Serratore know how to out coach us? Adjustments 2 nights in a row after the 1st period.
I hope I never see Joe Howe in goal again for the Tigers.
Typical CC hockey beat a team in October/November, but lose to them in February/March. Take away that wonderful Boston College game and we have done nothing late in the season in years. Crap
Don’t forget we are playing without Winkler as well. Another end of season collapse whether injuries or conditioning or coaching or knowing how to win when it matters, its become all too familiar.
