Center Rylan Schwartz skipped practice Tuesday because he’s sick with the flu, and left wing Jaden Schwartz (above) was limited because of upper-body soreness, but both are expected to recover in time for Colorado College’s weekend series at No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth.
Rylan Schwartz is “not feeling very well,” CC coach Scott Owens said, adding that “he’ll be fine to go on the weekend. We just need to let him get healthy.” Jaden Schwartz didn’t participate in all drills due to some discomfort following a split against Nebraska-Omaha, however, he was capable of shooting and handling the puck, and he skated pretty hard.
Center Tim Hall practiced in a no-contact jersey after missing the Nebraska-Omaha series because of a head injury that he suffered Feb. 11 at Bemidji State, and “all indications are he’s going to be available” for the trip to Minnesota-Duluth, Owens said. Left wing Scott Wamsganz also practiced after missing last weekend with an illness, and Owens reported there were no setbacks among defenseman Mike Boivin, center Nick Dineen, defenseman Eamonn McDermott, goaltender Josh Thorimbert and right wing Scott Winkler.
Owens said McDermott had a “surprisingly” productive weekend, considering he hadn’t played in six weeks with an injured left knee that didn’t require surgery. He said Winkler had a “better weekend” than he imagined after Winkler missed three of the previous four games because of a nagging upper-body injury. “He felt better,” Owens added. “He was on his game. He moved well. And I thought he handled the puck better.”
“I feel good about our chances” for the last four games of the regular season, Owens said. “We’re going into a really tough place this weekend. It’s probably a sold-out building. They’re very good on the power play. They’re very good offensively. It’s going to be a challenge for us. There’s no doubt. But I do like the fact that we’re getting some people back. I do like the fact that we’re kind of in playoff mode. We remain optimistic.”

[...] The No. 16 Tigers (16-12-2, 13-10-1 Western Collegiate Hockey Association) are to still practice Thursday night at Amsoil Arena, where they’ve never played, in preparation for a weekend series against No. 4 Minnesota-Duluth. They’ll also skate Friday morning, as the more ice time, the better for center Rylan Schwartz, who practiced only Wednesday due to the flu, and left wing Jaden Schwartz, who is hampered by upper-body soreness.
